I spent one week recruiting young professionals to come to the Regional Remote Sensing Center of Ouagadougou for training in remote sensing. While there, I visited the first agroforestry alley cropping research station trials at Ile Ife. Donors subsequently spent tens of millions of dollars trying to extend this labor intensive technique for soil fertility maintenance to farmers across Africa with almost no success.
